LOCAL BUSINESSWOMAN, FARMER AND ENTREPRENEUR TAKES UP THE ROLE OF HIGH SHERIFF OF HEREFORDHIRE

Joanna Hilditch from Lyonshall on the Herefordshire Welsh Borders has been declared as the new High Sheriff of Herefordshire 2021.  Jo was appointed to this honorary role, taking over from Patricia Thomas from Pencombe, during a Service of Thanksgiving held on 20 March in Hereford Cathedral in the presence of the Lord Lieutenant, Mr Edward Harley and a small congregation of close friends and family. One of the directors of Gabbs, Jeremy Wilding, was also appointed as her Under Sheriff for the forthcoming year. This is a great honour for the firm.

More usually known for her farming business and her British Cassis, Jo is hoping to shine a new light on the role, raising awareness of the responsibilities that come with it as well as focussing on the mental health issues that are bound to be apparent following our long Covid lockdown.  Patricia’s term has been largely limited by the impact of Covid, but despite this she has done an amazing job with most of her meetings being virtual.  Her Just the Job schools competition programme which followed her theme of  Preparing Young People for work was been taken up by many schools, and the connections she made across the county were myriad.
