A recent Court case has highlighted the need for clients to be careful when supplying their bank account details to solicitors and to ensure that all of the details are correct.

Mr Teich, a beneficiary of his father’s estate, provided his solicitor with an incorrect sort code and his inheritance was sent to the account of a third party. That third party then refused consent for the bank to withdraw the money, starting a long and expensive court case before Mr Teich eventually receiving the money into his own account.
