John Shurvinton has many years' experience in family law and civil litigation. He gained a Bachelor of Laws with Honours at Warwick University before completing his Law Society Finals at Manchester Polytechnic.

John is a member of Resolution, a national organisation of specialist family lawyers committed to the constructive resolution of family law disputes. He has extensive experience of advocacy in the Family Court and County Court, and he has appeared on appeal in the High Court.

He specialises in the following areas:

  • Divorce and financial settlements
  • Property disputes between unmarried couples
  • Disputes concerning children, including residence, contact and specific issues such as change of a child's surname and removal from the jurisdiction
  • Child support and applications for financial provision under the Children Act 1989
  • Drafting pre-nuptial, cohabitation and separation agreements
  • Civil litigation

In his spare time, John enjoys being outdoors. He is a keen gardener and likes walking in the beautiful countryside of South Herefordshire where he lives.
